Sergei Kirienko, Chief Executive Officer of Rosatom - the Russian Federation national nuclear corporation, made the announcement during the Atomexpo International Forum on Monday, adding extensive measures were being taken to launch the construction of the second and third nuclear power plants in Bushehr during this coming fall.
Under an agreement signed in Moscow on November 11, Russia is to build two new nuclear power plant units in Iran.
Moscow will also cooperate with Tehran on developing more nuclear power units in the country, and consider producing nuclear fuel components there, according to a memorandum signed by the heads of the state atomic bodies, Sergey Kirienko of Russia's Rosatom and Ali Akbar Salehi of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI).
Iran already runs one Russian-built reactor in its Bushehr power plant which is now fully connected to the national grid and covers part of the country’s needs for electricity.
A Russian delegation from Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation also arrived in Tehran in April 2015 to further discuss the construction details with the Iranian side.
Atomexpo International Forum as the largest exhibition venue for meetings and negotiations between world leaders of the nuclear power sector launched its 7th edition on Monday in Moscow.
